The unbeliever is very confused about the word soul. Popular mythology has created a culture of sorts for the word soul including the dance, emotive soundings, some music, and even food. The whole thing is just another in a long line of Satanic diversions. There is little relevance to Biblical truth.

A story is told of two artists commissioned to compete in painting a picture depicting peace. One painted a valley of beautiful trees and flowers surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The other painted a storm-tossed scene, perhaps something like the picture above, in which a little bird was shown peacefully and securely nested in the cleft of a rock. When we get to the last chapters of Acts, we find that the ministry of the 12 of the kingdom of heaven has about ceased. Little is heard of it. Paul is still carrying on with the same message, but he is being rejected in about every quarter. Finally he is arrested in Jerusalem, imprisoned at Caesarea for two years, and finally sent to Rome. There he made his final appeal to the Jews to accept Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah and King, reasoning with them from morning to night from Moses and the Prophets.

We see right division from the very start. In Genesis, the darkness is divided from the light and the waters below and above the firmament are divided by a new firmament, or heaven it is called. In studying the Bible today to find our place in God’s purpose, there’s another division we have to observe or know about. We don’t have this division today, but it has been, and that is Jew and Gentile.

We are going to consider the Gospel of John chapter 4:1-9. The chapter starts out by telling us that the Pharisees were trying to cause a division between the Lord and John the Baptist concerning baptism. We can conclude that they did not succeed. Next we find that the Lord needed to move on because He had an appointment to meet a woman of Samaria at Jacob's well.
