The Gospel of John #56

    Continuing our review of the Gospel of John, Chapter 9:42 – 10:2  the debate on whether or not the rulers should believe that Jesus is indeed the Christ of God even the great I AM. The Lord also heals the blind man.
    Vs John 9:35 “Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?” I believe this blind man who was healed, and is now able to see, is being given an opportunity to testify what he believes.
    Vs John 9:36 “He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?” Since this man had not actually seen the Lord before, it was necessary for the Lord to identify Himself to confirm this mans’ faith.
    Vs John 9:37 “And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.” The Lord is revealing Himself in two ways to this man. Sight and hearing which is enough to help this man identify and believe in his Lord and Saviour.
    Vs John 9:38 “And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” This is certainly a time to rejoice and testify to his Lord Jesus Christ and he is able to worship God finally.
    Vs John 9:39 “And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.” For judgment means that He is going to make a decision against those in this world who break His laws. They will not be able to understand Him and will be blinded from seeing the truth.
    Vs John 9:40 “And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?” Their question indicates that these are the very people that He is trying to reveal Himself to. The opinion that they have of their selves is very revealing to the Lord.
    Vs John 9:41 “Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth?” The Lords’ response is typical of how He answers their question by stating that their response is what really convicts them. They need a Saviour to pay for their sins so that they might inherit everlasting life and thus have life in His name.
    Vs John 10:1 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” The  Lord is speaking to the Phariseesin parables to hide the Truth from them while He reveals the Truth to His saints.
   Vs John 10:2 “But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” The Truth is that there is only one way into Gods’ kingdom and that is by accepting that Christ paid the penalty for sin and there is not another way or door to accomplish this entrance.                                     To be continued…
