The Gospel Of John #47

We are continuing our review of the Gospel of John, Chapter 8, which is continuing the debate on whether or not the rulers should believe that this man Jesus is indeed the Christ.
Vs. John 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. By two agreeing on a statement or fact then this statement was true. John 5:32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
Vs. John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. If the witness of two mortal men can establish the truth then the witness of God Himself should establish the truth as the next verse says.
Vs. John 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. The fact that the Father and the Son agreed should have been all of the proof that they needed to believe that Christ was speaking the truth of His judgement.
Vs. John 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. If we truly know Christ Jesus the Son then we will know God the father for they are one. Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Vs. John 8:20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. These statements of fact help us to understand and believe who the Lord truly is, but the unbelieving still refuse to accept the truth that a human being can be a man and God at the same time.
Vs. John 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Our Lord was speaking of His death, burial and resurrection and what these actions would accomplish.
Vs. John 8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. Their lack of understanding what the Lord was going to accomplish with His life leads to foolish questions and conclusions so He will explain again in our next verse why they are simply not understanding the plain truth of why He was sent from the Father.
Vs. John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. In other words our flesh cannot understand spiritual truths. (Rom. 8:1-13)
Vs. John 8:24. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. This statement shows the importance of understanding the truth of what God says. It is a matter of Life and Death. Believe what God has revealed about His Son and have life through His name or die in your sins ... continued
