We stated in Article #37 that Eph. 1:11 is the most accurately translated that “we were made (and thus we are) The Father’s own personal heritage or inheritance.” This reinforces the fact of how much The Father loves us. For all who have suffered the emotional, mental and/or physical pain of say a much less than ideal family situation, Eph. 1 reveals an eternal heavenly Father literally pouring His heart out with blessings, love and delight towards us filling us with a thorough knowledge of His will so that we can really and honestly say, “it does not matter what I suffer on Earth, if it humbles me, - producing a faith in me (Christ’s faith) which in turn creates a hunger for a complete knowledge of such superb truth!” -- A real experience folks of knowing the love of The Father through His Beloved Son!
Next we are going to embark on an exercise in Biblical interpretation, rightly divided. Doing this will show a proof to what we are claiming Eph. 1:11 states and should also lay a bit of groundwork for other sincere students of God’s precious Word.
For over 30 years now, I have known that the context in which a particular Scriptural verse appears is extremely important to the correct understanding of that verse. What is the context then of Eph. 1, verse 11?
Most of us know & believe that Ephesians is a “post-Acts period” epistle of Paul. The Apostle Paul, we know, is the Apostle to the Gentiles (Eph. 3:1-8; I Tim.2:5-10; II Tim.1:7-11). The truth involved within these two facts alone is monumental. The state of what most people believe Biblical truth is for today is one of a colossal mess, being brought about by the willing ignorance of men and certainly the cunning craftiness of Satan. People “dive into” Acts period books such as Romans, Galatians, I & II Thessalonians, and even Revelation, picking truth out of context from these Scriptures and applying it to themselves; acting like a child behind the wheel of an automobile.
