En Tois Epouranios #33

By Michael S. Mecikalski

By faith he (Moses) forsook Egypt , not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured as seeing Him Who is invisible ” (Hebrews11:27). Was Moses predestinated? Yes, of course he was, for Almighty God foreknew the choices that Moses would make (Romans 8:28 -30). What kind of power could compel (if I may reverently use this word) Moses to make choices away from one manner of life toward another, the two being so very opposite of each other. From supreme wealth and glory in the flesh to being worth no more than an ox in the degrading bondage of slavery (Exodus. 1:8-14; 2:23 -25).

As members of the Church which is His Body, the fullness of Him (Eph.1:22,23), the power that compels or moves you and I unto the good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in (Eph.2:10) is resurrection power (Eph. 1:17-20).That quiet, beautiful, unshakeable assurance provided for us as The Holy Spirit works with our human understanding, sealing us with the eternal acknowledgement that we are the inheritance of The Father in The Son and they are ours (Eph.1:11,12). In this power we can face anything, knowing that we have an eternal purpose. Moses walked in similar power, faith being his “title deed” in the acknowledgement of his inheritance (Hebrews 11:1). Whether or not the power that Moses walked in was resurrection power, I cannot speak on at this time.

What were the consequences of Moses' obedience? Because of the obedience of Moses: (a). an estimated 1 to 6 million of God's people were delivered from bondage (Exodus 12:30 -39); (b). The vice-like grip that Satan had on Israel through his ambassador Pharaoh was broken and the power of The One True and Living God was openly demonstrated; (c). The one and only totally just and righteous Law ever given to mankind to live by, was affirmed on Mt. Sinai (Exodus chapters 19-24). (d). on that same mount, the instructions for the building of The Tabernacle in The Wilderness were decreed, the awesome multifaceted “type of Christ” in structural form (Exodus chapters 25-27); (e). subsequently, the priesthood was instituted with its many sacrifices (so very important to Israel) pointing to their need for a Savior (Exodus chapters 28-31); (f). The “Good Seed” was preserved (Genesis 3:15 ) King David being born 500 years after The Exodus, Joseph and Mary (the chosen mother of Christ) being direct descendants of King David.
